It’s really lucky of me that I have relatives (i.e.: cousins) in Melbourne, so I got a place to stay & don’t need to pay for accommodation, which usually would be the most expensive costs during travel.
After I settled down at my cousin’s place very early morning on 29 Dec, I went out to eat something, ’cause the meal on the airplane (Qantas) was just alright.
I remember long times ago, I went to these cafe called The Premises with my cousin when I was still studying at Melbourne. It’s located just across the Kensington train station. It’s not very far away from my cousin's place. So it’s perfect to just have a relax brunch after a long flight from Hong Kong to Melbourne & kick-start my Melbourne 2013/14 food trip!!
The Premises is a cozy, local cafes around this suburb called Kingsington, where is very close to Melbourne CBD.
Melbourne is famous for their art & food culture! Before I came to Melbourne, I did some research & most of the places I want to visit are cafes for brunch! Hong Kong actually start getting lots of brunch places, but somehow I feel there are more sophisticated options to choose from at Melbourne cafes.
Since I already ate something on the airplane before arrival to Melbourne, so I just order a sandwich.
Smoked Paprika Chicken Sandwich (AUD$12): the chicken was marinated with smoked paprika & shredded into pieces. The smoked paprika flavor really stood out. Sliced pear, baby cos & hazelnut were added to give some more texture to the whole sandwich. If it’s just chicken would be boring!! The pear added some sweetness, baby cos & hazelnut added some crunchy texture. It’s just a well-balanced & healthy option!
If you want a more classic option, you can always go with the BBQ breakfast roll! Crunchy bacon, fresh free range oozy fried egg with The Premises’s BBQ sauce!!! Looks so good, tasted so nice too!
Such a peaceful way to start my Melbourne trip!
